On 18 November 2020, “What’s up in Ottoman and Turkish Studies?” (W’OTSAp) organized a webinar titled “Journals of the Plague Year: The Ottoman Press and the Istanbul Cholera Outbreak of 1871” with the participation of Erik Blackthorne-O’Barr (Columbia University), the winner of the 2020 Sydney N. Fisher Graduate Student Paper Prize of the Ottoman and Turkish Studies Association (OTSA), presented his paper. Elizabeth B. Frierson (University of Cincinnati) provided commentary and Virginia Aksan (McMaster University) moderated the Q&A.
