Organisée par  Fondation d’Istanbul pour la Culture et les Arts (IKSV), la 16e édition de la Biennale d’art contemporain d’Istanbul a débuté ce samedi 14 septembre. Cette année elle a pour thématique « le septième continent », qui désigne les 300 millions de tonnes de déchets plastiques qui polluent les océans.

“Le gouvernement, comme la municipalité d’Istanbul, semble en retrait”

“Le soft power permet de promouvoir le pays autant que son marché et ses artistes. » Et elles sont de plus en plus nombreuses à le faire : on estime à 5 milliards de dollars le montant des investissements engagés par les entreprises ou les fondations dans ce registre” dit le Monde du 17 septembre.

“Le renouveau artistique a été porté notamment par la famille Koç. Ce sont eux, et principalement Omer Koç, collectionneur compulsif et inspiré, qui ont ouvert dans le quartier de Dolapdere le musée privé Arter, 18 000 m2 pour une collection d’environ 1300 œuvres, inauguré le 13 septembre” dit le Monde .
